MK Dons player Alex Gilbey has been named as Player of the Month in League Two for November 2024.

Gilbey scored in both of MK Dons’ league games in November, which came as part of a run of six straight League Two wins that have hauled the Dons up the table and into the promotion chase.

The EFL panel chose Gilbey ahead of Harrogate’s Dean Cornelius, Colchester’s Jamie McDonnell and AFC Wimbledon’s Matty Stevens.

He told the official MK Dons site of his delight to win and also thanked the work of the coaching staff in helping him achieve the form to win the award.

He said, “I worked really hard on my finishing last season, and then this year Carl Laraman’s come into the club and he’s given me loads of tips and really helped me. I’ve just listened to the strikers, Ellis Harrison and Scott Hogan have been massive for me, I’ve been mirroring their runs which has helped me score! So just listening to people around me who’ve scored goals throughout their careers!”

Gilbey’s MK Dons boss Scott Lindsey had been nominated for the division’s Manager of the Month prize, but he was beaten to it by Morecambe boss Derek Adams, who lead the Shrimpers to two wins in their three games, including in a big six pointer against fellow early strugglers Swindon Town.
